Mr. FRED HALLasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will be prepared to favourably consider an Amend- 683 merit to the Finance Bill exempting local authorities from the duty on motor spirit in respect of any vehicle used by them for fire-brigade purposes; and further whether he would be prepared to accept an Amendment extending the exemption of fire engines from the duty on motorcar licences under Section 86 of the Finance (1909–10) Act, 1910, to all vehicles used in connection with the fire-brigade service of a local authority?
