HC Deb 12 July 1911 vol 28 c357
Mr. ASHLEY

asked how many protected cruisers, not including unprotected cruisers or vessels of other classes, have been launched for the British and German Navies, respectively, since the beginning of 1907?

Mr. McKENNA

Nine protected cruisers have been launched for the British Navy since the beginning of 1907. This figure does not include five unarmoured vessels of the "Boadicea" type. Nine protected cruisers have been launched for the German Navy since the same date.

Mr. ASHLEY

Is the right hon. Gentleman satisfied with that comparison of strength?

Mr. McKENNA

No, sir; the hon. Gentleman must not suppose that these figures exhaust the strength of the respective countries.
