HC Deb 12 July 1911 vol 28 cc380-1
Mr. JOHN ROCHE

asked whether Martin Lydon was granted an old age pension by the local pension committee of Mountbellew, county Galway; and upon what grounds the Local Government Board deprived this man of it?

Mr. ILLINGWORTH

The case referred to is presumably that of Martin Lydon, of Annagh, Ballymacward, Ballinasloe. Lydon, who was in receipt of a pension of a shilling a week, raised the question that he was entitled to a full pension. The pension sub-committee allowed the question, but the Local Government Board were not satisfied that there had been a change in Lydon's circumstances since the pension of a shilling a week was awarded and they therefore dismissed the question, the result being that the original pension of a shilling a week remained unchanged.
