HC Deb 12 July 1911 vol 28 cc367-8
Colonel YATE

asked if the right hon. Gentleman can state what has been the result of his reference to his colleagues of the proposals that the various scattered Indian collections should be brought together under one roof; and what steps have been or are going to be taken in the matter?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I am afraid I can add nothing to the answer I gave to the hon. Member on the 5th instant.

Colonel YATE

Does that mean that no action has been taken?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

No, it does not mean that. If the hon. and gallant Gentleman wishes to know what action has been taken I shall be glad to give him a full answer. I have already informed him that we have extended the area considerably and added more accommodation. We cannot bring all these collections under one roof without having a new building.

Colonel YATE

Have any steps been taken to get a new building?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

None at present.
