HC Deb 10 July 1911 vol 28 cc21-2
Mr. SILVESTER HORNE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the fact that hundreds of thousands of new members are about to join the various approved societies under the National Insurance Bill, he will take measures to provide that none of them shall be obliged to make their payments on licensed premises?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

The system of payment through the employer in the case of employed contributors and by the purchase of stamps in the case of voluntary contributors will entirely prevent any such practice.
