HC Deb 05 July 1911 vol 27 c1109
Colonel YATE

asked what is the present condition of the Bunder Abbas-Kerman trade route in Persia; whether any caravans on the route have been recently robbed; if so, whether compensation has been obtained by the owners from the Persian Government; and what steps have been taken for the safeguarding of the route?

Mr. McKINNON WOOD

A telegraphic report from His Majesty's Minister at Tehran, dated 28th May, stated that caravans were passing along the Bunder-Abbas-Kerman road, though its safety was doubtful. No later report regarding this road has been received, which indicates that no robberies have occurred on it. The latest robbery reported in which British interests were concerned took place in April. For this compensation has been demanded, but has not yet been paid.
