HC Deb 05 July 1911 vol 27 cc1123-4
Sir JOHN DEWAR

asked the Lord Advocate on how many occasions a Fishery Board cruiser has visited the coast of Barra between 1st November, 1910, and 1st April, 1911; and whether, in view of the injury to the line fishing industry on this coast through illegal trawling, he will give instructions for the coast to be carefully watched, especially between the months of October and April, during which period illegal trawling is in almost daily operation.

The LORD ADVOCATE (Mr. Ure)

Fishery cruisers have visited the Barra coast on thirteen occasions within the period referred to by the honourable Baronet. The stretch of coast in question receives its full share of supervision, and any complaints of illegal trawling, of which only one has been received by the Fishery Board since the 1st November last will be duly investigated.
