HC Deb 05 July 1911 vol 27 c1137
Mr. C. BATHURST

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Agriculture whether, in the opinion of the Board's veterinary advisers, the parasitic disease of the stomach and intestines of sheep and lambs which is causing great loss among sheep breeders in Huntingdonshire is identical with that which is becoming increasingly prevalent in Kent and other counties; whether this is caused fey the haemonchus contortus or by any other, and, if so, what, internal worm; to what extent research is being conducted into the origin, means of transmission, and cure of the disease; and whether any remedy is yet known to the Board?

Sir E. STRACHEY

Parasitic diseases in sheep have been very prevalent this year all over the country, and the trouble is not due to any one parasite in particular. No specific remedy for the disease is yet known to the Board. The Board are considering a scheme for the investigation of parasitic diseases.

Mr. C. BATHURST

Which of them?

Sir E. STRACHEY

All.
