HC Deb 05 July 1911 vol 27 cc1137-8
Mr. COURTHOPE

asked the hon. Member for Southampton, as representing the First Commissioner of Works, whether the offices of the Board of Agriculture and Fisheries are still scattered over a wide area in a considerable number of different buildings; if so, for what reason work has been discontinued upon the new offices in course of erection for the Board; and whether he will take steps to expedite the completion of these offices?

The TREASURER of the HOUSEHOLD (Mr. Dudley Ward)

The answer to the first paragraph is in the affirmative. The foundations and basement of the new offices have been finished; but the plans for the contract for the superstructure have been delayed by the heavy pressure in the Office of Works in connection with the preparations for the Coronation. The urgency is recognised, and the completion of the plans is being expedited.
