Mr. DORIS

asked whether Mr. Richard Gibbons, J.P., Westport, county Mayo, has offered for sale to the Congested Districts Board his estate near Westport; and whether the Board has taken any steps to acquire the property?

Mr. BIRRELL

Mr. Gibbons expressed his willingness to offer his estate for sale to the Congested Districts Board, but on being informed that the purchase price would be paid in stock he declined to furnish the maps and other particulars required in order to enable the Board to have the property inspected.

Mr. DORIS

asked the Chief Secretary whether the Congested Districts Board has been in negotiation with Mr. George A. Moore, of Moore hall, county Mayo, for the purchase of his estate; and, if so, will he say when the Board expects to be able to complete the purchase?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Congested Districts Board are in negotiation with Mr. Moore for the purchase of this estate, and they, expect to make an offer for it shortly.

Mr. DORIS

asked whether the Congested Districts Board has taken any steps to acquire the estate of the Rev. Richard Livingstone, comprising Ballyglass and other townlands, near Westport, county Mayo; and, if so, with what result?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Congested Districts Board have taken no steps to acquire this estate but they will now ask the owner whether he is prepared to negotiate for the sale of the lands through the Board.
