HC Deb 03 July 1911 vol 27 cc781-2
Mr. MIDDLEMORE

asked whether it had been represented to the Board through the ordinary official channels that the destroyers of the Beagle class were under-gunned; and whether the Board would consider the advisability of increasing the armament of these vessels, as was done in the case of the River and part of the Tribe class?

The FIRST LORD of the ADMIRALTY (Mr. McKenna)

The advisability of modifying the armament of every type of vessel is a matter which receives constant attention.

Mr. MIDDLEMORE

The right hon. Gentleman has not answered the second paragraph.

Mr. McKENNA

I can tell the right hon. Gentleman that as a fact no such representation has been made to the Board, but I think he will agree that it is undesirable to ask whether particular officers have made particular representations to the Board or not.
