HC Deb 21 February 1911 vol 21 c1722
Mr. WILLIAM THORNE

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he can state the annual amount of passenger duty received by the various railway companies of the United Kingdom in accordance with Section 3 of the Cheap Trains Act, 1883?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Mr. Hobhouse)

The reference given to Section 3 of the Cheap Trains Act, 1883, is not understood, as no provision appears to be made in that section for any receipt of passenger duty by railway companies.
