HC Deb 21 February 1911 vol 21 c1711
Mr. O'GRADY

asked whether Ganapthi Tyer, accused of certain bribery charges and sentenced to one year's imprisonment at Madras on 10th May last, had his sentence subsequently reduced so that he should have been released on 7th November; whether he was kept in gaol for 39 days after that date; whether he was only released then because his relatives threatened to take proceedings on his behalf; and whether the Government had received any explanation of this from Madras, and, if so, what the explanation is?

Mr. MONTAGU

If my hon. Friend will communicate to me the information on which he bases his question, the Secretary of State will make inquiry.
