§ Mr. WHITEHOUSEasked if the Government would issue to Members the inventory of the monuments referred to 1525 in the first interim Report of the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of England?
§ Mr. HOBHOUSEThe inventory is an appendix of the Report quoted, and relates to Hertfordshire. The Report was duly presented to Parliament and a copy is available for every hon. Member. But the inventory, a work of unique character, appeared to fall within the category of publications that in the judgment of the Select Committee on Publications should not be distributed gratuitously to Members, and the Treasury acted upon this view. A copy of the inventory will be found in the library of the House. The book may be purchased from any book-seller at 11s. 6d.
§ Mr. WHITEHOUSEIs not the possession of this document by Members of this House essential if the House is to consider either local or national schemes for the preservation of these monuments?
