§ The SOLICITOR-GENERAL for SCOTLAND (Mr. W. Hunter)The central authority for Scotland under the Motor Car Act is not the Local Government Board, but is the Secretary for Scotland, who, under Section 9 of the Act, has a discretionary power as to the imposition of a ten-mile limit in the event of an application to that effect being made by the local authority, but not otherwise.
§ Mr. WATTasked whether the Local Government Board of Scotland has any statistics showing how many accidents from motor-cars have taken place in the burgh of Partick and in the western districts of Glasgow; and how these figures compare with other towns in Scotland?
§ Mr. W. HUNTERThe Return of Street Accidents caused by vehicles during the year 1909 (House of Commons Return No. 209 of last year) contains classified statistics for the various districts, including Glasgow and Partick, and afford material for the comparison which my hon. Friend desires for the year 1909. A similar return for the year 1910 is in course of preparation.
