HC Deb 15 February 1911 vol 21 c1048
Mr. WEDGWOOD

asked the President of the Local Government Board whether he can form any estimate of the probable saving annually to all local authorities if the whole business of assessment were left in the hands of the central government, carried out by the officials of Somerset House on a uniform basis, and the figures supplied periodically to the various local authorities?

The PRESIDENT of the LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. John Burns)

I am afraid I cannot form any such estimate.
