HC Deb 14 February 1911 vol 21 c885
Mr. J. P. FARRELL

asked the Postmaster-General whether, as the trunk telephone system is now being introduced to Mullingar, he will, on receipt of the necessary guarantee, consent to its being continued to Longford and Cavan respectively, looping up the towns of Edgeworthstown and Granard en route?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

I am in correspondence with the Treasury as to the conditions on which extensions of the telephone trunk line system can be carried out in Ireland. As soon as these conditions are settled I will ascertain the cost of the extensions proposed by the Hon. Member and the amount of business they would be likely to produce, in order to determine whether they can be carried out either under guarantees or otherwise.
