The value of the imports of merchandise from foreign countries into the British Empire outside the United Kingdom in 1909 was about 142 millions sterling, of which twenty-eight millions were imported into British India, eighty-six millions into the Self-Governing Dominions, and twenty-eight millions into other Colonies, Possessions and Protectorates.
