§ Lord CHARLES BERESFORDasked the Prime Minister whether he had sanctioned the publication of the views of expert advisers at the Admiralty and War Office; if so, whether those opinions express the naval and military policy of the Government; and whether proper facilities will be afforded to the House for discussing those opinions?
§ The PRIME MINISTERMy sanction was not needed. So far as I know, the opinions referred to are in harmony with the general policy in regard to invasion and home defence, which has been pursued by successive Governments. There has been no new departure, and the ordinary facilities for discussion afforded by the Estimates seem to me to be sufficient.
§ Mr. ARTHUR LEEMay I ask the right hon. Gentleman whether he is aware that the expert opinion of the Admiralty has not been published officially for the information of members of this House, and will he be kind enough to request the Admiralty to lay Papers for the information of Members?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI will consult with my right hon. Friend?
§ Mr. IAN MALCOLMMay I ask on what Estimates the cost of the publication will be borne, or whether the cost of publication and any profits belong to some private firm?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI must ask for notice of that question.
