HC Deb 14 December 1911 vol 32 cc2515-6
Mr. ARTHUR HENDERSON

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he can give the number of non-fatal accidents in factories and workshops during the period, January to October, inclusive, for the years 1909, 1910, and 1911; and the number of non-fatal accidents in foundries for the same periods?

Mr. McKENNA

The number of nonfatal accidents in factories and workshops and other places under the Acts reported during the period, January to October inclusive, was 96,603 in 1909; 106,154 in 1910; and 121,505 in 1911. Separate figures for foundries are not available before 1910, nor can they be given for a part only of the year. For the whole of 1910 the number of reported non-fatal accidents in foundries was 20,452, out of a total of 128,470, for all places under the Acts.

Mr. CLYNES

Do the employers in sending the account of these accidents give an account of the causes?

Mr. McKENNA

I am unable to answer that question without notice.
