HC Deb 14 December 1911 vol 32 c2502
Mr. FELL

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he can give any further particulars of the charges made against Mr. Bertrand Stewart, the London solicitor who was arrested at Hamburg for espionage several months ago; and, if he has not been tried, at what date it is expected that he will be tried?

Sir E. GREY

I have no information beyond that contained in my reply to the hon. Member for the Uxbridge Division on August 10th with regard to the charges against Mr. Stewart. I understand that there has been a preliminary examination into the case, but that the trial will not take place before the beginning of next year.
