§ Mr. KEIR HARDIEasked the President of the Board of Trade if he can now state the result of his consideration of the representations that have been made to him regarding the conditions of service of Labour Exchange clerks?
§ Mr. J. M. ROBERTSONCareful inquiry has been made into all the lower paid posts in the Labour Exchange service, and where it appeared desirable an increase has been, or will be, given. Increments of pay have also been given in all grades where increments appeared to be deserved. I hope it will shortly be possible to place those members of the staff who are not at present on a fixed scale on definite scales of pay with definite increments.
§ Sir C. KINLOCH-COOKEIs the hon. Gentleman aware that some of these clerks have incomes of their own of considerable amount?
§ Mr. ROBERTSONI am not aware of that.
