HC Deb 14 August 1911 vol 29 cc1541-2
MARQUESS of TULLIBARDINE

asked the Lord Advocate if he has received a memorial from the Faculty of Procurators in Paisley, supported by the committee of the Society of Solicitors in Perthshire, requesting him to introduce legislation for the purpose of compelling town clerks of boroughs to make certain intimations with regard to the borough registers of sasines, in order to prevent forgeries of deeds relating to heritable property; and if he will favourably consider the request?

The LORD ADVOCATE (Mr. Ure)

A memorial has been received from the Faculty of Procurators in Paisley requesting that arrangements should be made whereby the Keeper of the General Register of Sasines shall, on receipt of deeds for registration, send notice to the granters and grantees, the object being to protect against forgeries in connection with deeds affecting heritable property. The memorial is at present receiving consideration.
