§ Mr. C. BATHURSTasked (1) whether the Local Government Board proposed by prospective legislation or administrative action in relation to the production of milk, to proceed upon the theory propounded by the Royal Commission on Human and Animal Tuberculosis, that the milk of clinically tuberculosis cows not containing tubercle bacilli as it leaves the cow frequently becomes infective by contamination with the fæeces or uterine discharges of such animals; and, if so, whether such measures will involve the condemnation and waste of such milk, although originally free from disease; and 370 (2) whether it is proposed to introduce and carry through Parliament this Session a Milk and Dairies Bill?
§ The PRESIDENT of the LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. Burns)The statement of the Royal Commission to which the hon. Member refers is receiving my careful consideration. I am not yet in a position to make any announcement with regard to it, nor can I add anything to what I stated last week as to the prospects of a Milk and Dairies Bill this Session.
§ Mr. C. BATHURSTMay I ask the right hon. Gentleman whether he accepts in an unqualified way the report of the Royal Commission, and if so whether he will do his utmost to prevent the price of milk to the consumer being materially increased?
