HC Deb 11 April 1911 vol 24 c233
Mr. KING

asked the Prime Minister whether he recognises the desirability of marking the full authority of the President of the Board of Education over the permanent officials under him; and whether, in order to effect this and to emphasise the importance of our educational system being in accordance with the wishes of this House, he will consider raising the dignity and salary of the President of the Board of Education to a level equal to those of the Presidents of the Local Government Board and the Board of Trade?

The PRIME MINISTER

I cannot give my hon. Friend any undertaking.

Mr. LANE-FOX

May I ask whether the right hon. Gentleman will use his influence with the hon. Gentleman to persuade him to take off his blocking Motion, which prevents any discussion of the subject at the present moment?
