HC Deb 11 April 1911 vol 24 cc243-4
Sir GILBERT PARKER

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Agriculture whether, with a view of giving further Government assistance to the Agricultural Organisation Society, he had made, or would make, representation to the Development Fund Commissioners for a grant to the society in support of its national labours in the interest of agriculture?

Sir E. STRACHEY

The Board hope to be in a position to make an increased grant to the Society before very long, and they are in communication with the Development Commissioners on the subject.

Sir GILBERT PARKER

Does the hon. Baronet feel at liberty to say what sum he has proposed to the Development Commissioners to advance to the Agricultural Organisation Society?

Sir E. STRACHEY

I cannot say at present.

Mr. C. BATHURST

Is the Board still of opinion that the county councils are a more suitable channel for the administration of this grant than the Agricultural Organisation Society?

Sir E. STRACHEY

I think the hon. Member will see that that does not arise out of the question. Perhaps he will give notice of it?
