HC Deb 10 April 1911 vol 24 c25
Mr. BOOTH

asked if the State Insurance Scheme will be founded on the German system; and whether he is aware that the German schemes are now found to be unsatisfactory and are severely criticised by the working men, who condemn the unexpectedly heavy cost of administration?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

I have no statement to make at present with regard to the Government Insurance Scheme. I have no doubt that my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer has given careful attention to the criticisms favourable and otherwise of the German measure.
