HC Deb 10 April 1911 vol 24 cc25-6
Mr. O'DONNELL

asked the Secretary to the Treasury if the Commissioners of National Education, Ireland, have been trying without success for seven years, as stated in their latest Report, to get the Treasury to give a grant for the purpose of establishing higher grade schools in Ireland; whether, during this same period, the grants from the Exchequer for secondary education in England, Scotland, and Wales have been more than doubled; and whether, seeing that Irish education is paralysed by this treatment, he will take immediate steps to vote a grant for higher education for Ireland?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

The establishment of higher grade schools under the Commissioners of National Education has been postponed to more urgent educational demands.
