HC Deb 06 April 1911 vol 23 c2411
Mr. O'SHEE

asked the Chief Secretary whether he is aware that a tenant has been evicted within the past year on the Thompson-Orpin estate, Balluduff, county Waterford; that two other evictions are pending; and that nearly all the tenants on this estate sent a memorial to the Estates Commissioners a year ago point-out that it comes within the definition of congested townlands under the Irish Land Act of 1909, and asking the Estates Commissioners to take steps under that Act to compel a sale; whether the Estates Commissioners have considered this memorial; whether they propose to make a further delay before dealing with it; and whether they will now direct one of their inspectors to investigate the circumstances of the estate under the powers conferred on them by the Act of 1909?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Estates Commissioners have no information as to evictions on this estate. They received the memorial referred to and have the matter at present under consideration.
