HC Deb 06 April 1911 vol 23 cc2416-7
Mr. SHEEHAN

asked whether the Congested Districts Board have authorised the statement that they are willing to advance loans of £50 to be repaid in fifty years by an annual payment of £1 8s. 6d.; if so, whether these loans are granted only in the congested counties, or are all agricultural occupiers whose valuation is under £7 entitled to them; and what are the conditions and purposes for which such loans are granted?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Congested Districts Board have approved of a scheme under which a loan of £50 can be obtained for the erection of a dwelling house with slated roof, repayable in fifty years by instalments of £1 8s. 6d. a year. The scheme only applies to the Congested Districts Counties, and is confined to tenant purchasers of agricultural holdings, the rateable valuation of which does not exceed £7.
