HC Deb 05 April 1911 vol 23 c2213
Mr. BRIDGEMAN

asked what is the total cost to the Exchequer of the legal proceedings which have been taken on the Swansea school case since the report of Mr. Hamilton was received, and before that date?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

The total expenses incurred in connection with the inquiry held on 31st July and 1st August, 1908, amounted to £273 19s. 3d. I am informed by the Treasury Solicitor's Department that the total disbursements of that Department in connection with this case up to the present date amount to £2,131 12s. 11d., to which must be added the sum of £110 incurred by the Stationery Office for printing.

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

Was there an estimate made of the probable expense when it was decided to continue the claim?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

Certainly.

Mr. HOARE

Does the right hon. Gentleman consider that the money was well spent?
