asked the Secretary to the Treasury what is the number of the existing paid staff of the Development Commission; what is the total amount of the salaries of such staff; what is the number of the Commissioners; which of such Commissioners are paid salaries, and what is the amount of each salary; what total amount of funds have the Commissioners, in conjunction with the Treasury, had control of for the financial year 1910–11; and what amount of money has been paid, or agreed to be paid, for such period in connection with the recommendations or operations of the Commission, and how much of this is for England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland respectively?

The number of the existing paid staff of the Development Commission is six (excluding a messenger), and the total amount of the salaries is £2,820. The number of the Commissioners is eight, of whom only one (the vice-chairman) receives salary (£3,000 a year). The total amount of the Development Fund for the financial year 1910–11 is £900,000. The actual payments during the year have been in respect of the Light Horse Breeding Schemes, as follows:—To the Board of Agriculture and Fisheries, £3,944; to the Department of Agriculture and Technical Instruction in Ireland, £4,600. It is not possible to divide the first figure between England, Scotland, and Ireland.
