HC Deb 05 April 1911 vol 23 c2200
Captain WARING

asked the Prime Minister whether, before continuing further with the Committee stage of the Parliament Bill, he will consider the advisability of making public the proceedings of the Conference, in order to assist the House in its deliberations on the Bill?

Mr. MacNEILL

Has not the right hon. Gentleman got enough of advice in the shape of 900 Amendments?

An HON. MEMBER

Will the right hon. Gentleman go so far as to tell us that his frequently expressed desire for a compromise last year is still his desire?

The PRIME MINISTER

I have no power, even if I had the disposition, to accede to this suggestion.

Captain WARING

May I ask him whether he thinks that he and the Leader of the Opposition would be in a position to discuss this point, knowing all the time practically what is in each other's minds, while the rest of us are in the dark?
