§ 82. Lord H. CAVENDISH-BENTINCKasked the President of the Local Government Board whether, in view of the fact that the shortage of sports, grounds and playing fields which existed before the War has been accentuated by the acquirement of land for allotments and will be still further accentuated by the housing programme, ho will organise a separate branch of his Department, to be known as the sports recreation Department, charged with the duty of securing an adequate supply of sports grounds and playing fields and facilities for the people to reach them?
Mr. PRATTMy right hon. Friend cannot undertake to set up a special Department to deal with this subject, but I have no doubt that the matter is one which is fully appreciated by the local authorities, and in any town-planning scheme full consideration will be given to the need for reserving suitable areas for recreation.
