HC Deb 15 March 1910 vol 15 c186
Mr. HAMILTON BENN

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, as a result of the restrictions on the importation of live cattle into this country for slaughter the importation of chilled and frozen meat is increasing; and if he will state the total quantities imported during each of the last five years?

Mr. BUXTON

The imports of chilled and frozen meat have only been separately distinguished from meat imported in an untreated condition since the commencement of 1909, in which year the imports of chilled or frozen beef, mutton, and pork amounted to 10,661,111 cwts. I will have the figures showing the total quantities imported during each of the last five years printed with the Votes. [See Written Answers this day.]

Mr. WATT

Does the right hon. Gentleman propose to introduce any legislation for the free importation of cattle this Session?

Mr. BUXTON

No.
