HC Deb 14 March 1910 vol 15 cc29-30
Mr. WHITEHOUSE

asked the Lord Advocate whether his attention has been called to a report by the clerk to the parish of Glasgow calling attention to the manner in which the establishments of midwives are used for the encouragement of baby farming; and whether, in order to deal with the evils described in the Report, and to ensure the protection of infant life contemplated by the Children Act, he will introduce a Departmental Bill requiring midwives to notify the authorities in all cases where they place a child in the care of a person other than its parents?

The LORD ADVOCATE (Mr. Ure)

The attention of the Secretary for Scotland has been called to the report referred to by my hon. Friend. Inquiries are being made on the subject. Meanwhile I cannot promise any legislation.
