HC Deb 14 March 1910 vol 15 c7
Mr. BYLES (for Mr. Pickersgill)

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will consider the advisability of making inquiry, by means of a Select Committee or otherwise, into the working of the Lunacy Act, 1890?

The UNDER - SECRETARY for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. Masterman)

Much evidence on the working of the Lunacy Acts was given before the Royal Commission on the Feeble-minded; and their recommendations for the amendment of the Lunacy Law as well as various amendments recommended by the Lunacy Commissioners will be brought forward for consideration when there is an opportunity for legislation. The Secretary of State is not at present advised that there is occasion for further inquiry.
