HC Deb 08 March 1910 vol 14 c1301
Mr. MORTON

asked the Lord Advocate whether the Commission appointed to inquire into minor legal appointments in Scotland included within its scope the case of procurators-fiscal, sheriff clerks, and the ordinary clerks in the sheriff clerks' offices; and, if not, would he extend the reference so as to include those officials?

Mr. URE

The scope of the Committee which has been appointed does not comprise the three classes referred to, and it is not considered advisable to extend the reference so as to include them.

Mr. MORTON

Does the right hon. Gentleman not think it would be wise to consider what he says with regard to extending the scope so as to put a stop to what is apparently an agitation amongst these officers?

Mr. URE

No, Sir, I do not think so. There has been no complaint and no request that the matter should be inquired into.
