HC Deb 08 March 1910 vol 14 c1299
Mr. FENWICK

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he would state the names of the members of the committee of business men appointed to assist the Board of Trade, and the number of meetings of such committee held up to the present?

Mr. BUXTON

The advisory committee to the Board of Trade on Commercial Intelligence is at present being reconstituted, and its composition will be announced shortly. I am having the names of members of the committee whose period of office recently terminated printed with the Votes. That committee held eleven full meetings and sixteen meetings of sub-committees. The names of members of the advisory committee on merchant shipping are also printed with the Votes. The present committee, which was appointed last autumn, has so far held two meetings. The committee which it succeeded, and which was in existence for the previous two years, held eighteen full meetings and thirty-nine meetings of subcommittees. Besides these two bodies there are other advisory committees dealing with special subjects—e.g., Lighthouse Works, Census of Production, and Imperial Institute. [See Written Answers this date.]
