HC Deb 20 June 1910 vol 18 c39
Mr. JOHN ROCHE

asked whether a man named John Gibson resides upon an uneconomic holding in the centre of the Usher estate, county Galway; and will he instruct the Commissioners to give him a portion of the untenanted land upon the estate?

Mr. BIRRELL

No tenant named John Gibson can be traced on any Usher estate in County Galway which is pending for sale under the Land Purchase Acts.

Mr. JOHN ROCHE

asked whether the Estates Commissioners have purchased the estate of Mr. James Lahiff, at High-park, Trienbawn, county Galway; and, if so, will he direct that the four or five small tenants upon the estate get portion of the grass lands?

Mr. BIRRELL

This estate is the subject of proceedings in the Land Judge's Court, and the offer of the Estates Commissioners for the purchase of the county Galway portion of the property is before the judge. Should the Commissioners acquire the property they will give due consideration to the circumstances of the tenants of small holdings when allotting the untenanted land.
