HC Deb 20 June 1910 vol 18 c34
Sir HENRY CRAIK

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is now in a position to make any statement with regard to a Grant to the Scottish Universities?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

I hope to be in a position very shortly to state the conclusions at which I have arrived.

Mr. AUSTEN CHAMBERLAIN

May I inquire whether the right hon. Gentleman will at the same time make any statement in regard to the English universities?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

Before I can make a statement in regard to the English universities there is a small deputation that has been appointed, and they want to see me before I have arrived at any conclusion.

Sir WILLIAM COLLINS

Will the right hon. Gentleman take an early opportunity of seeing that deputation?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

I am pretty hard pressed at present, but I hope to be able to see the Members shortly. I think it is desirable that a conclusion should be arrived at at the earliest possible moment.
