HC Deb 20 June 1910 vol 18 c13
Mr. BOWERMAN

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty if he is aware that hired workmen are discharged from Deptford Victualling Yard upon reaching the age of sixty, without pension, although in other Departments they are allowed to remain in employment until they reach the age of sixty-five; and whether he can see his way to arrange that in future the latter practice shall prevail in the Deptford Victualling Yard?

The FIRST LORD of the ADMIRALTY (Mr. McKenna)

The practice at Deptford Victualling Yard is to give each hired labourer, on reaching the age of sixty, if he is of good character and physically fit, the option of remaining.
