HC Deb 20 June 1910 vol 18 c4
Mr. POINTER

asked the Undersecretary for the Colonies whether, in view of the difficulties of cultivation met with by the farmers on the coast lands of British Guiana because of the complete absence of natural drainage for the flat front lands, consideration would be given to the advisability of giving a substantial grant to be utilised exclusively for improving the drainage of the principal villages lying on the flat coast lands of the colony?

Colonel SEELY

As I informed my hon. Friend on 10th March last, "the Colonial Government has had under consideration a Bill dealing with the promotion of schemes for irrigation and drainage, and the Secretary of State proposes to await the receipt of their proposals for dealing with the matter."
