Mr. EDMUND HARVEYasked the President of the Board of Education, whether the assistance in the choice of employment proposed to be given under Clause 1 of the Education (Choice of Employment) Bill will in every instance be given in co-operation with the Board of Trade Labour Exchanges, where such exist; and whether it is proposed that communications shall be made with employers, as well as with boys and girls, under the said Clause?
§ The PRESIDENT of the BOARD of EDUCATION (Mr. Runciman)The answer to the first part of the question in the affirmative. I regard co-operation with the Labour Exchanges as essential to the success of the arrangements which I hope to see made under the Bill when it becomes law. The matter referred to in the second part of the question is one with respect to which arrangements will be made between the Board of Education and the Board of Trade, who are acting, and will continue to act, in close co-operation in these matters.
