HC Deb 20 July 1910 vol 19 c1244
Mr. C. BATHURST

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Agriculture whether, in view of the exceptionally luxuriant growth of the potato crop throughout Great Britain and of the risk, under prevailing atmospheric conditions, of serious loss to growers from potato disease unless precautionary measures were forthwith adopted, the Board would take steps to make known to farmers, small holders, market gardeners, and allotment holders the proved efficacy of spraying the crop, before the disease develops, with Bordeaux Broth, its constituents and the best method of mixing them, and the special pecuniary value of its use in such a season as the present?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of AGRICULTURE (Sir Edward Strachey)

The Board have issued a leaflet dealing fully with the various points mentioned by the hon. Member. About 3,000 of them have been distributed this year.

Mr. C. BATHURST

Is not this just one of those questions in regard to which the Irish Department give much more useful information that the English Board?
