§ Mr. PATRICK O'BRIEN (for Mr. William Redmond)asked what is the number of labourers' cottages in county Clare which are at present being erected under the Labourers' Act and the number for which schemes have been approved?
§ Mr. BIRRELLOn 31st March last there were 620 cottages provided under the Labourers Acts in county Clare, 400 in course of construction, and 180 authorised and yet to be built. One thousand three hundred and four cottages have been authorised for county Clare since the passing of the first Act in 1883, but for various reasons 104 of these have been abandoned by the local authorities.
