HC Deb 14 July 1910 vol 19 c610
Mr. BURGOYNE

asked whether, on the discovery that certain cordite had in its composition a limited quantity of mercuric chloride, all such cordite was immediately withdrawn both from the ships and stores of the Fleet; and, if so, from what source the deficiency thus created was remedied?

Mr. McKENNA

The cordite in which mercuric chloride was discovered was not issued to the fleet. The cordite referred to was rejected as not complying with the specification, and other cordite was purchased in its place.
