HC Deb 12 July 1910 vol 19 c191
Mr. RAMSAY MACDONALD

asked whether the Commissioners of Woods and Forests have recently purchased an estate at Scotscalder, Caithness; what is the size of the estate; what price was paid for it; and to what use it is to be put?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

The Commissioners of Woods have recently purchased an estate at Scotscalder, Caithness, containing about 13,600 acres, for £46,500. It adjoins other Crown property, and is considered a desirable investment for their available funds. It is at present let to tenants in the ordinary way, and portions of it appear to be suitable for conversion into small holdings.
