HC Deb 11 July 1910 vol 19 c37
Mr. WATT

asked whether the posts of auditorships of school boards in Scotland are at present in process of being filled by the Scottish Office; whether the great majority of those filled have been given to accountants who already hold auditorships under the Scottish Local Government Board and other Departments; and whether the Lord Advocate will see that the further appointments to be made shall be given to men who hold no other State auditorships?

The LORD ADVOCATE (Mr. Ure)

After full consideration it has been decided that, in view of the close connection between the accounts of a school board and those of the corresponding parish council, the more effective as well as the more economical course was to entrust the audit of both sets of accounts as a rule to the same person, and appointments have been made accordingly.

Mr. WATT

Are we to understand that it is the policy of the Scottish Office to pile up these appointments in the hands of a few?
