HC Deb 11 July 1910 vol 19 cc14-5
Mr. NANNETTI

asked whether it will be within the scope of the Committee appointed to inquire into the pay and classification of the Ordnance Survey to include all questions in connection with pay, classification, promotion, and emoluments?

Sir E. STRACHEY

The reply is in the affirmative.

Mr. NANNETTI

asked whether, as the Ordnance Survey is a public department of the State, there is any reason why the evidence given before the Committee of Inquiry should not be made public?

Sir E. STRACHEY

The Board propose to publish the evidence of this Committee.

Mr. NANNETTI

asked whether the men affected will have an opportunity of knowing the evidence in its entirety laid before the Committee of Inquiry?

Sir E. STRACHEY

Yes, it is the intention of the Board to publish the Report and Evidence of the Committee.

Mr. NANNETTI

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Agriculture if the Irish portion of the members of the Ordnance Survey number fully 40 per cent. of the whole; and whether he can yet say if they are to have any representation on the proposed committee of inquiry into the grievances, etc., of the workers of the Ordnance Survey Department?

Sir E. STRACHEY

The matter is under consideration.

Mr. NANNETTI

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Agriculture whether any appointment to the position of secretary to the committee of inquiry has been made; and, if so, can he give his name to the House?

Sir E. STRACHEY

The appointment of the secretary to this committee is under consideration.
